2016 so far

2016 has been great and sucky so far hahaha
We have been sick every week at some point this year so far!

Thankfully when Alyx came to visit and play we were all better
(well for 5 days anyway)

I took her to As You Wish where she painted that adorable mug
and I FINALLY finished my Disneyland tile!
Then we had tacos at Los Tacquitos and
spent the afternoon shopping at AZ Mills mall,
all outlets?
Heck yes!
We spoiled ourselves and our kids rotten on our trip
(but the kids' stuff is a surprise, shhhhh don't tell!)

Rory had her first week of Sunbeams
(a week later than everyone else,
again sickness!)
and she LOVED it!
She still loves it.
Every week she plans her outfit
and then tells me how she's gonna help her teacher
and after class she comes home so happy and tells us all about her lesson.

Hopefully we are all on the mend for real here
cuz mama's tired of being sick and tired hahaha
Luckily these girls are pretty good with sickness

And last random bit!
I recently got these LulaRoe leggings that I have been hunting for for WEEKS!
It took 5 different consultants
and one amazing unicorn wrangler
and I finally got my pair of cupcake leggings!
Random? Yes.
Total win? HECK YES!

13 January 2016

Christmas (yes yes late)

Christmas was awesome!
Christmas Sunday I taught my class
and instead of doing the normal
"in a manger" lesson,
I taught about the Savior's earthly parents: Mary and Joseph.
I used this article as reference
and I printed this handout for them to take home

We even took a picture as a family to show how cute we CAN be
if we're able to plan far enough ahead hahaha
I fell in love with my dress the moment I saw it online and
the fact that it actually fits is amazing to me hahaha
(my dress: DressBarn
girls dresses: Carters
our shoes: Payless!)

We hosted Christmas Eve at our house with the whole family,
and Christmas morning we were at my parents house to celebrate!
On Christmas Eve Eve EVE Andrew and I stayed up til 1:30 AM making this monster

There was much wailing and weeping
(possibly some mild cursing) and blood
while we built this thing!
However, seeing the girls reaction to it was worth it all!

I got to get out my Christmas China for dinner
and it always makes me so happy when I'm able to do fancy things!
I rarely get to put a tablecloth down,
nice plates,
and pretty table wares like pitchers and butter dishes
that I thoroughly enjoy being able to do it!

After watching The Grinch,
reading Why The Chimes Rang,
and opening ONE gift
we all settled down for a good sleep before the big day!

This was a year for the books I won't lie!
The girls had so much fun opening gifts and playing with their new toys
(especially their new Inside Out buddies: Sadness and Disgust).
I gave Andrew a case for his Nintendo DS XL
aka boring gift hahaha
He on the other hand went CRAZY!
He gave me a date night.
But I mean, dressed to the 9's (ish),
dinner and a play!
Olive Garden for dinner (cuz he knows it's my favorite),
and Beauty and the Beast at the MAC!
He also gave me specific dressing instructions hahahaha
I am to wear some new jeans (to be purchased at a later date),
a white shirt,
and THESE beauties!!

I was seriously blown away!
I did NOT expect to receive them!
Please ignore the weird angle and ugly position haha
my mom took this from across the pond there

I am so excited!
We also ALL the adults get to go to NEWSIES in June!
And my parents graciously helped all of us save some for our Disneyland trip
in April for the whole family.

Grandparents Mills gave us an awesome tent for the girls WITH an attached tunnel!
In that picture, grandpa is crawling through it all heehee
Aunt Haley gifted the girls some AWESOME new outfits
and they're gonna be the most fashionable little girls around!
Mom and Dad Mills also gifted a canopy for me for my boutiques
and a cooler for us to use on our trips!
I personally was gifted this AMAZING shelf!
It came from a couple of my Activity Day girls
and I cannot wait to paint it black and hang it up on my wall somewhere!

07 January 2016

I'm sure most of you will have seen this viral
video of Jada Pinkett Smith talking with her mother and her daughter
about mothers/motherhood.

And if you haven't, I put it here for you to watch.

It's no secret that I've gone through some really rough patches dealing with motherhood.
I've written about it a few times,
as part of a way to try to heal as well as to help any others that may feel the same.

"You have to take care of yourself...
you have to find a balance"
but ALL the mommy blogs/groups/social media sites
say that if I take my eyes off the kids for longer than a pee break
I'll be scarring them for life,
they won't grow into independent adults,
they'll need me to help them make decisions forever,
they won't feel loved,
not making homemade meals every night deprives them of happiness,
homeschooling is the only good option,
etc etc etc.

I have felt ALL of the guilt.
Guilt of leaving them with dad for the night,
leaving them with sitters for a much needed date,
staying with them even though I'd rather be out,
wishing for time without kids so desperately,
then getting that time and feeling miserable that you left.
Making friends is almost impossible.
Keeping them sometimes more impossible.
And so much more.
The anxiety is real.
The depression is real.
It's raw.
It's hard.
It's destructive.

Jada is completely right.
You HAVE to be able to take care of yourself
or everything falls to the wayside.

So this year, I'm really going to concentrate on myself.
I love being a wife and mother and a church teacher.
However I feel like there must be more to me than who depends on me.
So it's time to start fresh,
get back to basics.
Figure out who I am now.
Blogging is going to be a bigger part of my life this year
(hopefully, hahahaha don't want to break a promise to myself too early)
and I want to try more things,
DO more things,
GO more places,
READ more books, and
BE adventurous.

Here's to an official new (and somewhat old) me.

05 January 2016

I'll be real.
I didn't realize it had been so long hahahaha
I thought to myself the other day
"I wonder why no one has commented about our trip?"
Oh wait, the trip I NEVER blogged about!
Then there was Christmas, followed by New Years,
followed by the plague  that's been going around.
I think we're FINALLY getting over the plague,
but dude it's been rough!
So to recap a little:
- Andrew and I went on a trip for our 5 year anniversary!
We decided that it's a pretty big milestone and to celebrate at the Happiest Place on Earth!
(with my parents hahaha)
- Christmas was amazing and we all had a great one
- We rang in the New Year at home
with the flu bug that has hit hahaha
Now to the trip!
Andrew loves me so much that we each got an Annual Pass for this year!
Since we were already going to be going back as a family
in April, we crunched numbers and it was actually cheaper to get the passes
than buy the tickets twice!
We ate at Carthay Circle for the first time and Andrew was literally entranced
by their spicy duck wings.

Guys, he doesn't even look at ME like he looked at those wings hahaha
But it didn't bother me at all,
we finally found something that he will be overly excited about
going back a few times over the year!

Ok the funniest thing about these photos is that my PARENTS
got their phones out first before we touched the food to document it!
Blogger/Instagram pros in the making hahaha
Seriously though, this was the BEST food we had
AND we did the World of Color dining package
so we got special seating for World of Color Celebrate later that night!
During which I cried like a baby like always and froze cuz it got sooo cold!

Having the passes made our trip so much easier I kid you not!
We didn't have to really stress about getting up super early and running
to get to everything.
It's literally been almost 5 years since I've been on it because of pregnancies/breakdowns
and I can honestly say that I'm good for another 5 years hahaha
that used to be my all time favorite ride,
then I rode it again and I thought I was gonna die.
My hips were off kilter for like an hour after wards haha hilarious!

We saw the Paint the Night Parade which was so cool!
Met up with my good friend Antonio (whom I met when I lived there)
Rode Hyperspace Mountain.
I have already done this when I was in the DCP
but this time, the ride stopped about 2/3 of the way in
and the lights came on and the poor cast member was running up the stairs
while others were running up different places!
It was cool to see it with the lights on again
and my parents and Andrew now actually believe me
that you can ride with your arms up!
(The second hyperspace picture is what happened
when we finished the ride when the lights were on
and no one but me remembered the picture mwahahaha)

Andrew and I really enjoyed our time together without the kids
and spending some cash on each other rather than the littles ;)
We took a few selfies in our spot where he proposed,
and then with the giant Christmas tree on Main Street.
I am beyond grateful for this man of mine.
We've been married for 5 years now,
we have these two beautiful girls right now to care for.
Maybe more in the future, who knows?
(NOT an announcement)
We've had ups and downs,
stresses and fun,
sorrows and joys,
and I wouldn't want to spend my eternity with anyone else.
The 5 year itch doesn't exist here ;)
(nor will the 7th, I'm kinda attached to him.
I like keeping him around!)
