Miss Whitney!

Alright my lovelies!
Today you are in for a great treat!!
You get to hear from the wonderful Miss Whitney

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well hello there friends!

I am BEYOND excited to be guest posting for Ali today.
I came across her blog early in my blogging "career"
and instantly fell in love with her stor!
We are both big time Disney nerds and bonded over
our love of all things Disney related.

I actually started blogging about a year ago,
under a different blog title.
It started as a personal outlet for my feelings.
I was going through a difficult time financially, spiritually, personally,
and especially emotionally.
Being able to write my feelings and send them into the universe was
extrememly therapeutic for me.
Then came along "blog-stalking".
Abotu 6 months ago I gathered up an arsenal of blogs I thought were interesting
and useful for me to follow.
And the funny thing?
These weren't even my friends!
I didn't know most of these bloggers, but I felt as though I did.
Today my list has grown and I take a ridiculous amount of joy
spending an hour every morning perusing, commenting, and offering
my encouragement and support.
Then a funny thought crossed my mind....I could do this too!
maybe someone will care what I have to say! :)

So today, Ali asked me to talk a little about my Disney College Program
experience.
Well, since we're such big Disney nuts, why not??

In Spring 2008 I accepted a semester long internship at Walt Disney World.
It was the scariest/most exciting thing I have ever done in my life.
I soon learned I would be working in attractions
at the Seas with Nemo and Friends and Turtle Talk with Crush (a ride and a show)

Don't you just love my costume?
I had little Nemo fins ;)
The best part about my first college program experience
was learning what I did.
I gained friends, communication skills,
knowledge of Disney, and valuable life experience.
It was remarkable how much I grew in such a short amount of time.

So, in the summer of 2009, I couldn't resist going back to Disney!
This time I worked for "Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground",
also known as the "playground of death".
Yes, I may or may not have hated working there - but I still consider it
the best summer of my life.
Why? These girls:

Those are some of my best friends:
Katie, Kelly, Suzanne, Abby, and Kathleen.
We still talk frequently and remain close,
indulging in little "reunions" every six months or so.
I don't know who or where I would be without them.

So let's wrap things up with a few of my favorite parts about working for Disney:
- creating the magic for guests
- gaining knowledge of how things work "behind the scenes"
- visiting the parks on my day off-- for FREE!
- having Mickey premium ice cream bars whenever I wanted
- getting to know so many incredible people from all over the world
- living my nerdy Disney fantasy every day

I hope you enjoyed a little insight into my Disney obsession :)
Please head over to my blog: Writing on a Whim
and check out my weird stories, craft ideas, baking/cooking,
learnings and everything else in-between.
Thanks for reading!!
